What is Fotona’s SP Dynamis Laser?
Fotona’s SP Dynamis laser wavelength is ideal for gentle ablative scar revision. The laser safely and effectively provides the minimal penetration depth required for light resurfacing of acne-scarred skin, helping to improve skin texture and tone. Unlike chemical peels and dermabrasion, laser skin resurfacing allows the penetration depth to be precisely controlled. The laser gently vaporizes micron-thin layers of the acne-scarred surface to reveal healthy, undamaged skin below. Laser resurfacing is a fast, safe and simple procedure.

The minimally invasive nature of laser scar-revision treatments means that they are well tolerated by patients, and faster recovery times allow the psychological impact of scar revision treatments to be realized much sooner by patients.
Lasers are ideally suited for the effective treatment of a wide range of scar tissues. It is used for gentle scar tissue ablation and collagen remodeling activation. Acne scars in particular respond well to it treatments. For hypertrophic scars, clinical research conducted with the laser wavelength shows further improvement in the aesthetic appearance and overall tissue quality of a scar, including erythema, volume, pliability, etc.

How it works?
Sylfirm is a quick 30 minute treatment with minimal discomfort. Prior to the treatment, topical anaesthesia (aka numbing cream) is applied. The Sylfirm treatment probe with small needles are then pressed onto the skin during the 10-15 minute treatment. Patients may feel mild discomfort at times.

Immediately after Fotona treatment, the skin looks slightly flushed and this settles within approximately 5–15 minutes. However, the full benefit occurs after a few weeks as more collagen is stimulated and skin texture and pore size improve. Makeup can be worn immediately afterwards and normal activities commenced straight away.
The treatment is suitable for all skin types and colours as it does not heat the surface of the skin. It can be done if you have a tan.
New collagen is stimulated to develop gradually in the weeks and months after Fotona treatment. We usually recommend a series of treatments, since repeated sessions continue to stimulate collagen production (for example 6 treatments every 3–4 weeks). It is usually recommended to have the treatment every 3–4 weeks to give the heat shock proteins time to signal production of new collagen.
